Welcome

We are situated in a hamlet on a quiet road leading directly to Portbail. The oldest part of the house dates back to c1750, and was the main house of a large farm. Its current owners have recently restored the house by blending modern materials and comforts with the authenticity of the house’s charm and character.  Every room has its own bathroom and toilet, and three rooms have a totally independent entry with access to a lounge reserved exclusively for our guests.

The large terrace and garden is accessed directly from the main entrance, and is ideal to enjoy a relaxing moment. Table d’Hote (evening meal) is available on request - based on Mediterranean cuisine.

The rooms offer comfort all year round and follow the guidelines and high standards of the Gîtes de France. 

A warm welcome is assured by the Italian and English hosts, who have considerable experience of managing international hotels.

Our Region

Our house is within one of the most attractive regions of the North of France - the Cotentin peninsular.

This region offers the perfect setting whether you want to relax or be stimulated - or both.  Nearby activities include swimming, walking, bird watching, horse riding, tennis, golf, water sports, fishing ……….. - all in  an unpolluted environment where locals still live rural lives that in many respects have changed little the traditional lifestyles.  The Cotentin puts you in close contact with nature.  It can be explored on foot, by car and especially by taking the Route Verte on a bicycle.

Normandy - an area of outstanding natural beauty, of Castles and of History. The Normans embarked from here for their conquests - as recorded in the famous Bayer Tapestry.  Napolean retrenched his army in St Vaast-la-Hougue, and more recently the beaches of Normandy were the site of the Allied landings in 1944.

Nearby are the charming towns of Briquebec (11 kms), with its 1000 year old castle, and the famous sea-side resort of Carteret with its beaches and harbour (7 kms),  and Portbail (5 kms) with its 10th century Notre Dame church and 4th century Roman Baptistery.  The famous Mont St. Michel is one-hour drive, and the Channel Islands lie only a short boat ride from Carteret harbour.
